Ocean Terminal Tread Mill Run For The Fire Fighters Charity.

Published by Lee on February 18th, 2012 - in Uncategorized

On Saturday the Borders Barmy Army took part in one of our extremely popular sponsored Tread Mill days for charity, but this was one with a difference, this time we ran in full Fire Fighter Gear!

The day got off to a good start, we were changing runners every 30 minutes and we were a popular sight collecting in kilts and running in full fire fighter gear!  However disaster struck at 11am when the tread mill broke down.  Thankfully Lothian and Borders Fire & Rescue Service, who had come to ocean terminal to support us managed to source us two static bikes from Pure Gym!  After about 45 minutes of the treadmill breaking down the challenge changed for the better with 2 guys in full firefighter gear cycling until 6pm!

We would like to say a huge thank you to Lothian & Borders Fire & Rescue Service for Supporting us throughout this challenge, Ocean Terminal for allowing us to hold the event, Pure Gym for kindly donating the Static Bikes for the day, Boots for Donating plenty of Water etc, and to all the shoppers for generously donating!

We raised a sensational £718.20 on the day for the Fire Fighters Charity.  For more information on the Fire Fighters Charity please vist http://www.firefighterscharity.org.uk.

In April 2012 we will also be returning to the LBFRS international training Centre at Mcdonald Road, Edinburgh to take part in the ‘Fire Fighter for a day’ Challenge!
