2009 20 mile Trek for Cancer Research

The team that took on the tough 20 miles of the the Southern Upland Way for Cancer Research

20 Mile trek along the Southern Upland Way for Cancer Research.

20 members of the Borders Barmy Army braved the hills of the Southern Upland Way in our kilts from St Mary’s Loch to Selkirk via Traquair. It was a fantastic day and another unforgettable experience that will always be remembered as “the search for Selkirk” .

The rain was welcome as we climbed the hills at Traquair which was no doubt the hardest part.

This event was also a great team building day and those of us that stayed together until the end enjoyed a great laugh all the way along the extremely tough 20 miles.  We were delighted to reach the Cricket Club at Selkirk (once we eventually found it!) and enjoy a BBQ kindly sponsored by JB Douglas Butchers of St Boswells and a pint or two in the sunshine.

We raised a fantastic £2,500 for Cancer Research.
