20 mile sponsored hill walk
15 of us embarked on a 20 mile sponsored hill walk on Sunday 26th April for Cancer Research UK. And, yes, we walked in our Kilts, from Dryhope near St Marys loch to Selkirk via the Three Brethern.
What was it like?
It ranged from a decent long walk through to a bloomin hard walk leaving me with sore feet right through to aaaaahhhh!!
Never let it be said however, that a walk in a kilt is uncomfortable or too hot or cold because when we heated up with exertion going up the hill, the brisk wind under the kilt cooled us right down.
When stopped at the half way point at Traquair, the seasoned walkers who were also doing the walk told us that the worst was still to come and that the hill out of Traquair was quite hard. "Quite hard"......, "quite hard"... MeThinks they were prone to quite a bit of under exaggeration because the hill out of Traquair was a b***** of a hill. Once up top however, the views made it all worthwhile - the Scottish Borders really are beautiful.
